I’m Stuart, Birmingham born and bred. I’ve lived here all my life, apart from three years in my twenties, which I spent in Italy. It was easily the most formative period of my life and it most definitely informs my appreciation, understanding and expectations when it comes to food.
I love cooking as much as I love eating out... and just to get it out the way, I love drinking too.
Cin cin!
It’s my thoughts on the food and experience of eating out in restaurants across Birmingham, mostly in the centre and south side of the city. Eventually, I’m hoping to get the necessary visas and inoculations to explore the eateries in the north of the city too.
The Japanese have a word tsundoku for the pile of books by the side of your bed that you’ve yet to read and may never get around to. There should also be a word for the list of restaurants that we wish to eat at, but may never get around to. This blog is my attempt to close the gap.
These are exciting times to be living in Birmingham for anyone who loves eating out. Whilst we’ve still got quite some way to go, we’re definitely closing the gap on London and I’m looking forward to reviewing that journey.
Buon appetito!
